PolyDesign was founded in 2012 by Dr. Hsing-Yeh Parker, with the mission of supplying low-bed-volume solid support frits to the growing markets of high throughput DNA/RNA oligonucleotide synthesis and purification. Since its inception, PolyDesign has established itself as the leader in its field.
The company's proprietary technology creates miniature frits of the highest quality and consistency, which cannot be duplicated by conventional means.
The synthetic oligonucleotide industry has historically made oligos using particulate solid supports that are packed into columns. This approach works fine when making oligos at 40 or higher nanomle scales. But the oligo marketplace is changing rapidly, and today there is increased demand for high quality oligos on a one nanomole or even sub-nanomole scale. Traditional packed columns cannot meet this need in an economical manner. As a consequence, there is a demand for a miniature solid support format that can be used in small scale synthesis platforms.
PolyDesign's main business is developing and manufacturing low bed-volume frits. Our frits embed a uniform amount of the solid support particles that are also used in packed bed columns, within an inert porous plastic matrix. Our frits provide a convenient means to consistently handle a very small quantity of solid support, and use that solid support with traditional synthesis methods. We also embed solid supports that are used in purification techniques.
Besides our standard products that fit common commercial synthesizers and existing columns, we provide custom manufacturing to exactly meet your needs.
We also collaborate with companies that want to entrap new kinds of active solid supports within frits, or create frits in dimensions that no one has made before. If you have a project in mind and would like to explore new possibilities in using frits, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@polydesignproducts.com .
